Analysis Function

Click here for the Flash Tutorial on ANALYSIS.  A high-speed Internet connection is recommended for this 2-minute tutorial (the 1.1 MB animation may take up to 1 minute to load).  All Finasia Tutorials are best viewed in Full Screen (F11 shortcut in IE) and 1024 X 768 resolution.  Click here if your browser does not have the Macromedia Flash Player plug-in.

In the ANALYSIS function, you have access to the entire Financial Statements of the selected companies, up to 400 data points per record.  Given the millions of data points and time-intercepts that you can access, it is imperative to limit the number of data points and companies in your analysis, lest your data downloads become unacceptably slow.

Once you have accessed all the data required, you may complete your analysis within the Finasia application or save it for more extensive modeling in other applications in the XLS file format through the <Save WorkFile> option under <Edit> in the Menu toolbar.

There are three separate modules to the ANALYSIS function:

            1.  Financial Statements:  this worksheet allows you to access any Financial Statement item as well as Financial Formulas and Ratios.  With up to 400 line items per financial statement (see Appendix III), the financial statements have been separated into four distinct subsets:

                    a)  Balance Sheet

                    b)  Income Statement

                    c)  Cash Flow Statement

                    d)  Supplementary Data (containing many items from the Notes to the Financial           Statements such as pension liabilities, debt breakdown, etc. and other data not normally found in general financial statements)

            2.  Stock Prices:  this worksheet contains complete market-related valuations inlcuding trading history, shares outstanding, and market capitalization (see Appendix IV).

            3.  Company Data:  there are four subsets within company data, for which you can find the components in Appendix VI.
