Screening Function

Click here for the Flash Tutorial on SCREENING.  A high-speed Internet connection is recommended for this 2-minute tutorial (the 1.5 MB animation may take up to 1 minute to load).  All Finasia Tutorials are best viewed in Full Screen (F11 shortcut in IE) and 1024 X 768 resolution.  Click here if your browser does not have the Macromedia Flash Player plug-in.

The SCREENING function allows you to quickly contrast and compare among thousands of companies contained in our database.  To facilitate a relevant comparison between sectors and countries, all Level-1items that are available in Screening have been mapped to one another.

e.g. Selecting Net Operating Revenues in Screening will generate the results for all companies that report this item, regardless of any local naming conventions.

To begin SCREENING, you must first select the Universe of companies that you wish to screen.  In the SCREENING window, all companies in the universe appear in rows and all data items will appear as columns, mapped to each company/row.  You should carefully review the settings of each data item as it is selected to ensure that you access the correct data.

After selecting the data items that you wish to include, you may apply logical arguments to filter the components and narrow your analysis.  e.g.  total assets greater than or equal to 200 million.

As mentioned in Section 4, a Screening Template will be refreshed with the most recent applicable data every time it is opened to guarantee the timeliest data.

In order to limit downloading congestion, the SCREENING function is limited to a maximum of four time-intercepts for each selected data item.  For an extended time series, you must request the data through a second series on the same screening sheet.
